It All Happened One Tuesday

Everything in my life happens on a Tuesday. I don't know why. It's like the universe decided to make Tuesday attract everyone and everything.

  • American and Canadian elections
  • Obama's Inauguration
  • Cheap fare at the movies
  • September 11th
  • Black Tuesday
  • Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday)
  • I found out Mr. Dress-up died on a Tuesday (He had a Canadian kid's show that ran for years, everybody loved him).
  • There always parties that just happen to be on Tuesdays.
It's so weird and I've always noticed this. So get ready, tomorrow is Tuesday!

Chloe 2009

Here is a decomposition of the clothes in Chloe's rtw spring 2009 collection. Gaby Aghion was the founder of Chloe, which is the first luxury fashion house to create ready-to-wear (or pret-a-porter). Before this, all luxury designers produced was Haute Couture. Ready to Wear is now equally if not more sought after than Haute Couture. Do you think that the creation of a more accessible Ready-to-Wear collection contributed to fashion? Or did the less daring Ready-to-Wear collection make fashion less creative and artistic?

Objectified

My first real post since 2007 is a trailer for the new documentary Objectified. It is directed by Gary Hustwit. He also directed Helvetica which I recommend.
I have considered being an industrial designer as a career, but I have a moral problem with it. It is the same problem I have with fashion. I don't believe that mass production is a good idea. It creates too much waste. However, good design and good style might still possible without mass production. What do you think?

Odour Issues

Well, of course I'm supposed to be studying for my math test which I'm doing 2 days early because I get to go to Montreal to see Feist on Friday. But, for some reason I'm busy typing away about feet. Feet, a problem that isn't discussed much. Flat shoes have caused some problems that we ladies have to deal with, some odour issues. One way of dealing with the issue is putting baking soda in your shoes at night because the powder absorbs the smell.

But that's a shitty way to deal with it, so I would like to know everybody else's tricks and tips on eliminating this unfortunate issue.

I Put a Spell on You

I'm sitting at the computer, rubbing "White Petroleum Jelly" aka Vaseline on my sniffly nose. (Why is a cold what spring brings me?) But the important thing is the tune in the backround, it's a little Nina Simone, (I gained so much when I stole my mom's CDs).
Nina Simone has so much variation and creativity in her music, she does covers of songs but completely changes them and make you see them in a new light.
I recommend:
1. Ne Me Quitte Pas
2. Wild is the Wind
3. Strange Fruit
4. See-Line Woman
5. Pirate Jenny

Charlotte Rampling

Charlotte Rampling is a British actress, who I happen to think is extremely gorgeous (and I'm rewriting this post because the original got freakin' deleted, and as a result it will be less entertaining). She was most beautiful in the 60's and 70's but now has a very sexy old person air to her(if that makes any sense). Here is a gallery of pictures of her and a scene from the movie "Georgy Girl."
